Day Trip to Coral Island
When you think of the perfect tropical island trip and getaway with your family, visions of powdery white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, and crystal clear blue waters likely come to mind. That’s exactly what you’ll find on Coral Island, a stunning island paradise just a short boat ride from Phuket. I recently had the opportunity to experience this idyllic island on a day trip with Sawasdee Phuket, and it was everything I could have dreamed of and more.
Our adventure began bright and early as we boarded the Sawasdee Phuket speedboat at Chalong Pier. The helpful staff made check-in a breeze, and before I knew it, we were zipping across the Andaman Sea, feeling the salty sea spray on our faces as the warm morning sun glistened on the water. After just a 15-minute journey, the breathtaking scenery of Coral Island came into view.
Coral Island Day Trip
As we approached the island’s shores, we were immediately struck by the sheer beauty of the place. Coral Island’s beaches are comprised of the softest, whitest sand I’ve ever felt. The water is an almost surreal shade of turquoise that’s so inviting and clear, you can see straight down to the vibrant coral reef below. Lush green hills provide a picturesque backdrop, and towering coconut palms sway lazily in the gentle sea breeze. It was, quite simply, paradise found away from the busy city of Phuket.
Our first stop was the main beach area, where Sawasdee has an exclusive beachfront setting reserved just for their guests. We were able to stake our claim on the prime beachfront views, lay out our towels, and soak up some sun. For the adventurous guest, there were plenty of water sports and activities to enjoy like snorkeling, banana boat rides, sea kayaking, and even parasailing up for a bird’s eye view of the island and the beautiful sun.
Coral Island Adventure
After working up an appetite from splashing in the warm tropical waters, we made our way to the beachside restaurant for a mouthwatering Thai-style BBQ buffet lunch. The spread included all sorts of fresh seafood, grilled meats, curries, refreshing salads, and tasty sides. We dined al fresco while taking in amazing views of the Andaman Sea and enjoying ice-cold beverages. It was the perfect way to re-charge our batteries for more island adventures in the afternoon.
Following lunch, you decide to explore more of what Coral Island has to offer. As you set off on a hike through the island’s lush interior, following a winding trail up into the hills. The path took me past coconut and rubber tree plantations and provided stunning viewpoints to stop and take it all in. I even stumbled upon a beautiful seaside mosque that appeared to be right out of a storybook or a movie.
Eventually, my pathway looped back around to the beaches on the far side of the island. Here, I discovered two more idyllic bays,the perfect spots for a little more snorkeling, swimming, and beach time. The reef and marine life were incredibly vibrant, with schools of tropical fish darting through the coral. With few others around, it felt like I had these beautiful beaches all to myself.

At last, all good things must come to an end, and soon it was time to re-board the Sawasdee Phuket boat back to the main island. As we made our way back, I couldn’t help but feel completely relaxed yet invigorated at the same time after a day spent in such a serene, natural paradise. A day trip to Coral Island is the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and stunning scenery – a true escape from the stresses of everyday life.
